Dundee duo delight

Dundee duo delight It is congratulations to two of our top Dundee bus drivers as they prepare to head off to Blackpool to represent National Express Dundee in the finals of the UK Bus Driver of the Year (BDOY) competition later in the year.

Both Jim Tyrell, as overall winner, and Craig Furey, as runner up, clearly delighted the judges at their local qualifying heat with their skill and bus expertise, with the top spot regularly changing hands as the event progressed. This local BDOY heat, which attracted a large number of entries from NX Dundee, required entrants to complete both practical and written tests under the watchful eye of trainers Kevin Freeston and Jon Eggleton.

After a presentation by Dundee Director Lawrence Davie, all participants were treated to lunch to congratulate them on their efforts.

Lawrence commented "We know that our drivers drive exceptionally well, under difficult circumstances, every day of the year and it is great to be able to recognise these efforts. I have been really impressed today and I am sure our two finalists will do us proud in the national final of the Bus Driver of the Year competition."
