National Express Dundee fare revision for 2010
24-12-2009
|
National Express Dundee has today announced a revision of its bus fares with affect from 4 January.
Throughout 2009 National Express Dundee has held the price of fares despite many increasing cost pressures. As part of its annual review and as a result of rising operating costs some fares will be increased, while many will be frozen.
Regular bus users will benefit from a lower cost annual pass while adult monthly Direct Debits and all Daysavers will be frozen to help customers access work and education at a low cost. The fare revision means that customers can purchase an annual pass for the reduced price of £399 - cheaper than at anytime since January 2007. See full details of the fare structure in the table below.
To make travelling across Dundee simpler the fare structure for single journeys will now feature two bands instead of three. Single journeys between bands one and three will cost £1.20 for adults and 65p for children. Single journeys covering four or more bands will cost £1.45 for adults and 85p for children. All single child fares will be subject to an increase of between 3p and 18p.
Lawrence Davie, Director at Travel Dundee, said: "As part of our annual fare revision we are pleased to announce that all Daysavers and the adult Direct Debit have been frozen while annual Travelcards have been reduced by 4%. Setting up a direct debit or pre-paying for Daysavers and Travelcards not only provides the biggest saving for customers it also helps reduce queues and delays at the bus stops.
The January fare changes mean that we can continue investing in a better bus service for the future. In Easter of 2010 electronic ticket machines will be introduced to the fleet making bus travel quicker and easier for customers. We are also recruiting six additional drivers in January 2010 to help us deliver the highest standard of bus service to Dundee."
Flexi value tickets will be withdrawn from January 4 due to a decline in their use.

Information about Direct Debits:
We have set up a direct debit helpline managed by the National Express Head Office in Birmingham for customers to call on 0121 254 6322, alternatively the website (www.travelwm.co.uk) offers all of the information required to set up a Direct Debit.
Cancellation of a Direct Debit can be made at any time. Once somebody has signed up, there's no need to worry about renewals. We will ensure people receive a new travel card every month for as long as the Direct Debit is in place.
